US National Parks I've Been Privacy Policy

Privacy policy for the application.

US National Parks I've Been (the “App”) is a personal log of the U.S. national parks you have visited. It does not require an account, and it never asks for your name, email address or phone number. This policy explains the limited data the App handles and why.

Information We Process

Anonymous identifier

To connect your own tips and statistics to your device without an account, the App uses an anonymous identifier. On Android this is the device’s Android ID; on iOS it is a random identifier generated by the App on first use and stored on your device. It is sent to our server when the App loads tips (so your own tip can be shown separately), when you post, edit, delete or report a tip, and with the optional statistics below. You can see it in the App under Settings > Anonymous ID.

Anonymous visit statistics (optional)

Only if you turn on “Share anonymized data” (Settings), the App sends the visit status of each park (visited or want to go), the visit date, your rating and whether you marked the park as memorable, together with the anonymous identifier. We use this only to show community statistics such as popular parks. You can turn sharing off at any time; data already shared can be deleted on request (see below).

Visitor tips

When you post a tip, the App sends the tip text, the park, your optional rating and the anonymous identifier. Tips are public and are shown to all users under an anonymous name derived from the identifier (for example “Explorer #1234”). You can edit or delete your own tip in the App at any time. Before your first tip you must agree to our community guidelines; objectionable or abusive content is not tolerated.

Location (on-site stamps)

When you tap On-Site Stamp, the App asks for location permission while you are using the App and reads your current position once. The position is checked on your device against the park’s area to decide whether you can get an on-site stamp; it is never stored or sent to our server or anyone else, and the stamp only records the date and that it was made on site. The App does not use location in the background, and you can turn location access off at any time in your device settings.

Reporting and blocking

You can report a tip or block its author. A report sends the tip’s ID and your anonymous identifier to our server; tips reported by several users are hidden automatically and reviewed. Blocking hides that author’s tips on your device only (you can unblock them in Settings > Blocked users) and also reports the tip so we can review it.

Data Stored on Your Device

Your visit records and stamps, dates, ratings, notes, achievements, settings and your list of blocked authors are stored on your device and are not sent to us unless you use one of the features above. Like other app data, they may be included in your own device backup (Android Backup to your Google account, or iCloud Backup on iOS) and restored when you reinstall; we cannot access those backups.

Photos

Photos you attach to parks are chosen with the system photo picker, copied into the App’s private storage, and never uploaded to our server. On Android they are excluded from cloud backup; on iOS they may be included in your own device backup (for example iCloud Backup) under Apple’s settings. When you save a map, progress poster or achievement board, the App only adds that image to your photo library at your request; it does not read your other photos.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect and process data such as your device’s advertising identifier, IP address and device information to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud, under Google’s own privacy policy.

On iOS, the App asks for permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before ads start. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track,” the advertising identifier is not available and ads are not personalized. On Android you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads in Settings > Google > Ads.

Network Communication

Besides the features above, the App downloads a small configuration file to show banners for our other apps. All communication with our server uses encrypted HTTPS. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties other than the advertising provider described above.

Deleting your data

You can delete your tips in the App. To delete everything associated with your anonymous identifier on our server (tips, reports and shared visit statistics), email us at jinhom6225@insightmyung.com with the Anonymous ID shown in Settings. We will delete it within 30 days. To remove data on your device, uninstall the App and, if you use device backup, delete the App’s backup in your device settings.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the App changes. The date below shows the latest revision.
