Class Action Deadline Alerts Privacy Policy

Privacy policy for the application.

This privacy policy applies to the Class Action Deadline Alerts app (the “app”, Android package com.joe.classactionalert) provided by its developer (the “developer”). The app lists open US class action settlements from a public data source and reminds you of claim deadlines. It is not a law firm, gives no legal advice, is not affiliated with any court, settlement administrator, class counsel or defendant, and never files claims for you: claims are made on the official settlement websites, which open in your browser. The app does not require login or account creation and never asks for your name, email address, phone number or address. The developer runs no server for this app and the app uses no analytics or crash reporting tools, so the developer does not directly collect or store your personal information. However, as described under “Advertising and Third-Party Services” below, our advertising partner may automatically process some data in order to show ads. The app is distributed only in the United States and is intended for adults (18+).

Information We Collect

The developer does not collect any information that identifies you, such as your name, email address or phone number. Data processed by third-party services used in the app (advertising) is handled under those providers’ privacy policies, as described below.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following is stored only on your device: the settlements you save (their public id, name and claim deadline, so they can still be shown after they leave the list); the proof filter you chose; whether new-settlement alerts are on; the ids of settlements the app has already shown you and the ones marked “NEW”, used to count new settlements; the date of the last new-settlement alert and an alert waiting for the morning (its time and count only); the times of the last data update and the last update attempt; your setup progress (first-run notice and notification introduction); and how many times the app was opened and whether a review was already requested. The notification system also keeps the texts of the reminders scheduled on your phone, Android’s WorkManager keeps its own record of the daily background update job, and the app keeps a cached copy of the public settlement data it downloads. This data is not sent to the developer, to Google or to any other server, is not used to target ads (the launch counter only decides when ads and the review request may show), and is excluded from Android cloud backups and device-to-device transfers. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data. Deadline reminders (3 days before a saved claim deadline) and new-settlement alerts (at most once a day) are local notifications scheduled on your device; no push server is used. Notifications are set to private visibility on the lock screen, and you can turn them off in the app or in your Android notification settings.

Advertising and Third-Party Services

This app uses Google AdMob to show ads. When ads are displayed, Google may collect and process certain data, such as your device’s advertising ID, IP address and device information, to deliver ads, measure ad performance and prevent fraud. This data is processed under Google’s privacy policy, not by the developer.

The app shows one banner ad at the bottom of the settlement list, settlement detail and Saved screens (not on the About, empty, loading or error screens) and an interstitial (full-screen) ad over the start screen when the app starts (not on the very first launch). There is no in-app consent or privacy-choices screen. To show and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect your advertising ID, IP address, device information, approximate location estimated from your IP address, app interactions (such as app launches and ad taps) and diagnostic data, as described in Google’s “Play data disclosure for Google Mobile Ads SDK”, and Google may use this data for personalized ads. The ad requests the app sends contain no information about the settlements you view or save. The developer does not sell your personal information. You can reset or delete your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalization in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads).

Network Communication

When you open the app (including before you finish the first-run notice), and once a day in the background, the app downloads the public list of open class action settlements from classactionhero.app (Class Action Hero, published under CC BY 4.0). The app also downloads a small public list of the developer’s other apps and their icons from raw.githubusercontent.com (GitHub, github.com/jinhom6225/app-config). These requests contain no information about you; like any HTTPS request they reveal only connection data such as your IP address and a standard User-Agent, and the settlement request may include a cache tag of the copy already on your device. The app uses Google Play’s in-app review and in-app update features, which are handled by Google Play under Google’s privacy policy. Official settlement websites, the data source and other links open in your browser (and a settlement administrator’s phone number or email address opens your phone or mail app), where those services’ own privacy policies apply; the app does not track what you do there.

Children’s Privacy

This app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
